In unlocking the potential of all our people, we are faced with a challenging statistic that is common to most countries.
Take any group of 100 people at the start of their working career and follow them for 40 years until they reach retirement age and here’s what you’ll find:
- Only 1 will be wealthy.
- 4 will be financially secure.
- 5 will continue working, not because they want to, because they have to.
- 36 will have died.
- 54 will be dead broke – dependent on the meager Social Security checks, relatives, friends and even charity for a minimum standard of living. Financially speaking that’s 5% successful, 95% unsuccessful. These are US statistics. In the rest of the world, especially the developing world, the situation is far worse. Apparently in South Africa less than two can retire at the end of the working life. This is something that a developing country, like South Africa, cannot afford.
Build a Business, Public and Youth partnership, that work as one, to make our Communities Effective Centres of Employment Creation (5-Star Status) by December 2020.
For a number of years BBN has been researching and developing an all-South African plan that has been tested, perfected, accepted and endorsed by business, public and our youth in readiness to lead and support the emerging entrepreneur economy. One in which all within a community can play a positive role that is essentially win-win.
The BBN 5-Star Community Plan develops the leadership and Star by Star grows the community as an effective centre of employment creation as follows:
All of the above is addressed at workshops to develop the leadership and then spread out from them to many more within the community. Star 1 to 4 begins simultaneously but grows in intensity over a period of time. Stars are awarded as certain milestones are achieved. Star 5 is a community that is strong in all areas including that of sharing their experience and know-how with communities that are at a lower Star level or communities that are beginning the process.
